Synergy Project 24th November – IDSpiral
Portugal, Summer 2003, Ambiens Indages is born from the magic of the woods. Keywords are psychedelic (genre), mechanical sounds (movement), colours (timbre), tempo of life (rhythm) and ambient atmospheres.
Hi! I am Gil from Portugal, currently living in London.
Since the age of 17 I've been listening to a wide variety of electronic music. Eventually, I started researching and writing about ambient music for my BA degree in Production and Music Technologies. This period influenced my perspective of music recording and production and I compulsively composed an album and wrote a final dissertation about it. In 2004 chilloutzone.org embraced AI at the Boom Festival 2004, this meeting of minds led to many more collaborations, at events and in the studio. Ambiens Indages is an endless journey, a search, striving for pleasure and places, feelings, people, memories, ideals. Some of my deepest experiences are really psychedelic and have been an invaluable inspiration and influence in my music.
AI takes us from our collective memory to imaginary places, inspired by a free and constructive philosophy. Live acts are performed as a conceptual set of continuous music, like a story or a movie with various spaces, a cycle composed of various cycles.
This is an open minded project for special collaborations: 15 musicians have recorded over 30 instruments in the past 3 years; in 2005 Fractal Species produced an event that staged AI, a local percussion group and a fire performance for the opening of the Green Trippin Camp in the Azores Islands saw 1200 people dancing on the main floor.
Since 2005, AI has been a member of the chilloutzone.org. A team of promoters of ambient and organizers of decompression areas, to coin a phrase. The most infamous being Boom Festival’s Ambient Village, the most amazing adventure of our ambient lives.
I like to listen to Eno, K. Schulze, Satie, Shpongle, Solar Fields, Tjak. AI has shared the stage with Solar Fields, Chilled C'Quence, High, Elektra, Nova, Bluetech, Pedra Branca, CPU, Menog and released a track on Ambient Planet vol. 2 on Flow Records.
