Bio:
DJ PHIL MEADLEY;
has been a music journalist for many years now covering a wide variety of genres and acts, although he does specialise in the funkier side of world music.

He has recently formed a new DJ collective with the mighty DJ UNA MUSICA BRUTAL called Shisha Sound System.
He’s interviewed many rock and dance artists, so he’s open to all kinds of influences. He’s written for the likes of The Independent, Observer Music Monthly, Songlines, HMV Choice etc etc.

He’s also compiled twenty compilations to date, of various styles that people would likely place under either 'world/chill/or beats'.


DJ UNA MUSICA BRUTAL;
is British born & bred but his family roots stem from the lush valleys of Kashmir, with the foothills of the Himalayan Mountain range forming the dramatic backdrop. With such magnificent scenery being instilled in his mind from an early age it was only a matter of time before he would embark on a journey to discover music to form the soundtrack to his Shangri-la.
In addition to the "THE SHISHA SOUNDSYSTEM", he runs his own Law Firm, a monthly Arabic/Bellydance club night "YALLA HABIBI!" and a cool Moroccan themed Shisha Café called “Babouche Lounge”.
Music, he says, is his most trusted and loved companion, "I think, breathe, dream and sleep it and I never wish to wake from it”.
THE SHISHA SOUND SYSTEM ARE RELEASING A NUMBER OF COMPILATIONS FOR THE NASCENTE LABEL THROUGHOUT 2007, THE FIRST OF WHICH IS CALLED “THE BEGINNER’S GUIDE TO BUDDHA LOUNGE”-RELEASED ON JANUARY 15TH 2007.

A NUMBER OF EXCEPTIONAL & DIVERSE RELEASES WILL FOLLOW THE FIRST, DEMONSTRATING THAT THE SHISHA SOUND SYSTEM HAVE A SINCERE LOVE & PASSION FOR MUSIC, ARE BEYOND CATEGORISATION AND THAT THEY MEAN BUSINESS
