MDMA and personality
-RESEARCH CLOSED-

The United Nations report reveals that in Britain 2.2 per cent of the population aged 16 to 59 - 730,000 people - now take ecstasy, compared with 1.2 per cent five years ago. Such figures demand that more is done to understand the potential risks or benefits of Ecstasy (MDMA) and how it might effect such growing number of the population. The research on Ecstasy is still young and not free of controversies, which have led to many divided opinions, and media-driven popular beliefs on mostly the negative effects of the drug. This is also a result of most research being focused on the potential dangers of the drug, with little been researched on its potential benefits.

This study aims at contributing to the current scientific research on MDMA by exploring how the drug might have effects on certain personality traits. This will be looking at potential differences between light users, heavy users, ex-users, and non-users of ecstasy. You will be presented with a brief questionnaire; all you need to do is click on the answer that best describes you.

As the use of Ecstasy is illegal in the UK, please know that your data will only be accessible by myself, (it will be stored on password protected databank) and will not be shared with anyone else under any circumstances. In addition, if for any (not necessarily specified) reason you would like your data to be withdrawn from the study, you will be able to do so by sending me an e mail ( ) with your IP number in it. However if you do wish to withdraw, please let me know before the 30th of April 2006.

As mentioned above, the data is strictly confidential. I will only guard the IP numbers for the purpose of allowing you to withdraw, and hereby guarantee that I will safeguard the anonymity of all participants at all times.

I would like to thank you already for taking interest in this study, and for contributing a few very valuable minutes of your time to the progress of scientific research in the study of MDMA.

Yours truly,
